Bois d’Arc Lake: The First Texas Lake in 30 Years

Bois d’Arc Lake, located in Fannin County, is the first Texas lake to be built in 30 years. It is situated about an hour’s drive from the heart of the DFW area. As of June 19th, 2023, the lake has reached 81.5% capacity, and interest in the lakefront property remains high.

Opening to the Public
North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) Lake Operations Manager Jennifer Stanley stated that once the lake reaches a 532-foot elevation, they will request the board of directors to open the lake to the public.

High Demand for Lakefront Property
Despite the high demand, no new lakefront land lots have hit the market following The Peninsula and The Shore’s one-day sale. On May 20th, the east side of the lake had a one-day sale, including two phases totaling 150 lots.

The Peninsula and The Shores
The Peninsula sale, scheduled to start at 10 am, began sooner than expected as buyers started running to land lots at 9:45 am. All 75 lots within The Peninsula sold before 10:30 am. As demand was so high, they opened phase two of the development, The Shores, to the public for purchase. All 75 lots sold in under an hour, and all 150 land lots had up to four backup offers lined up by noon. The frenzy surrounding these lot sales highlights the incredible demand for lakefront property in the area.
